SELLING
The first stage of selling through Folio Asian Art is to request a free and confidential valuation. Our experts in material relating to Asian ceramics and works of art will evaluate your items and suitabliity for sale.
CHARGES
The following charges are applicable to property consigned for our sales following the signing of our seller's agreement.
Vendor’s Commission: 15% of the hammer price, plus VAT.
Loss / Damage Liability Waiver: 1.5% of the hammer price plus VAT (1.5% of low estimate is chargeable for unsolt lots).
Sellers will be liable for their Loss/Damage Liability Waiver whether an item sells or not.
All sales are subject to the Terms & Conditions outlined on the Sellers Agreement.
BUYING
Our experienced specialists are always available to answer questions and assist you through the auction process.
VIEWING THE CATALOGUE
Catalogues for our specialist sales are published approximately one to two weeks in advance.
LEAVING A COMMISSION BID
You may leave a commission bid via our website, by telephone or by email. State the maximum price you would like to pay for a lot and we will purchase it for you at the lowest possible price, taking the reserve price and other bids into account.
ONLINE LIVE BIDDING - SALEROOM & INVALUABLE
We partner with third-party online bidding platforms including The Saleroom and Invaluable. These platforms can be used to place bids at our auctions. Please be aware that if you bid with one of our third-party online partners, then there will be a live bidding surcharge on top of your final purchase price, as follows;
Customers bidding through the third-party auction platform the-saleroom.com are liable for a 4.95% surcharge on the hammer price, plus VAT. This is in addition to the Buyer’s Premium.
Customers bidding through the third-party auction platforms Invaluable.com or Liveauctioneers.com are liable for a 5% surcharge on the hammer price, plus VAT. This is in addition to the Buyer’s Premium.
FIRST TIME BIDDERS
New buyers are asked to register before bidding, via our email at info@folioasianart.com
Photographic identification, current correspondence details and proof of address are required if you are a first time bidder with Folio Asian Art. You may also be asked to leave a refundable deposit on the first time that you bid.
Unfortunately, Folio Asian art cannot accept bids from unregistered buyers so please ensure you register with us in plenty of time before the auction. You only need to register with us once.
OVERSEAS BIDDERS
Overseas customers will need to provide proof of identity (a scan of a passport or a national ID card) and payment card details prior to the auction.
FEES
Please be aware that there is a buyer’s premium of 25%, NOT inclusive of VAT on the hammer price. For example:
Hammer price – £1000.00
Premium at 25% of £1000 = £250
VAT at 20% of £250 = £50.00
Total price – £1300.00
PAYMENTS
Bank Transfer, Debit card.
Credit card (plus 2.28% VAT inc. on Business and Non-EEA cards) and Cash to a maximum of £2000.00.
POSTAGE / SHIPPING
We work in partnership with third-party companies for domestic and international shipping and domestic clearances. Please contact us for a quote before the auction.
STORAGE FEES
Folio Asian Art offers a discretionary 14 days free storage on purchased and unsold Lots from the date of the sale. Thereafter Lots not collected shall incur storage charges of £5.00 per lot per day.
